Abilene Community Theatre was created in 1954, and found its permanent home in 1958 at Oscar Rose Park. Through the years we have been proud to have both contracted and volunteer directors to take on our six season shows. We pride ourselves on being a volunteer-based, learning theatre. People of all ages and levels of experience are welcome at ACT! Our most recent addition of the Center for Theatre Education - a children's theatre program that offers productions to the youth of the Big Country - is our greatest pride. We have also hosted several outside organizations such as the Dyess We Care Team, Abilene Artists Coalition, and the Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce. Abilene Community Theatre is an educational and performing arts center dedicated to the cultural enrichment of Abilene and its surrounding communities.
ACT needs your help with a few facility upgrades! We believe a community theatre should reflect the beauty of the community around it. With your help, we would be able to replace the worn out carpeting in the lobby and in the aisles, as well as give our lobby a fresh coat of paint. Safety is important to us, and our current carpeting is fraying and can pose trip hazards for some of our elderly patrons. It has been many years since ACT has been able to update its lobby. Your generous donation will help keep Abilene and ACT beautiful for many years to come.
