Breakfast on Beech Street (B.O.B.S.) is an all-volunteer, non-profit, community service located in Abilene, Texas whose mission is to help improve the quality of life in our area by providing a free, hot breakfast and sack lunch to anyone—regardless of age, race, creed, ethnicity, religious affiliation, or income. We serve approximately 65-90 individuals per day--working poor, disabled, underprivileged, senior citizens, and homeless. B.O.B.S. is the combined effort of five different Christian denominations and churches: First Christian Church (DOC), First United Methodist Church, Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, First Central Presbyterian Church, and Highland Church of Christ—all serving Abilenians in harmony and united purpose since 1996. More than 130 volunteers drawn primarily from these five churches work in teams to prepare and serve their designated breakfast menu for each workday from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m.
Every dollar counts! Because B.O.B.S. is an all-volunteer organization, 100% of contributions to B.O.B.S. go toward feeding our guests. Many people rely on the hot breakfast and sack lunch that we provide each weekday, to “jump start” their day and alleviate the pain and uncertainty that hunger can impose on their lives. B.O.B.S. Board members, with 100% participation, have pledged to donate $1125 as part of the Abilene Gives event. We're asking our volunteers to consider challenging your fellow team members or other friends to give together as a group to match or exceed our donation!
